WE HAVE INVESTED £160 MILLION IN OUR FACILITIES TO ENSURE THEY MEET OR EXCEED INDUSTRY STANDARDS Jessica McLachlan Cardiographer Health and Social Care Level 3 As part of my college course, I completed a placement at Birmingham Children’s Hospital in the Heart Investigation Unit. I gained good experience of a cardiology department and the different investigations they carry out including ECGs, tapes, exercise test, CPEX and Echo. Near the end of my placement, I was allowed patient contact, which enabled me to practise my positioning and application of the ECG stickers and expand my knowledge of ECGs altogether. After my placement, I continued going into the hospital once a week to gain further experience. I’m pleased to say that I have since secured a full-time 12-month contract in the same department.
